That anger, that aggressiveness is built not only into the story but the gameplay changes as well. Sam's angry and you hear it in every grunted line of dialogue, can see it in the brutal takedowns and interrogation moves and feel it pulsating through Sam with every step. Of all the smart decisions made in crafting a new Splinter Cell title, this might be the best one developer Ubisoft Montreal made. The fantastic campaign is made better with the game's brilliant stealth gameplay.Sam Fisher is back, and he is not in a good mood. Splinter Cell Blacklist is possibly the most balanced and refined stealth-action gameplay in the series. It was later revealed that the role was given to Eric Johnson as Ironside had been battling health issues of his own. However, the biggest change in the game was the absence of Michael Ironside as the iconic protagonist's voice. The game sees Sam return to his espionage career but this time, as the chief of Fourth Echelon. The sequel to the original, Pandora Tomorrow, develops on the foundation laid by the original Splinter Cell to quite the degree. Pandora Tomorrow is an underrated game in the franchise that is loved by a devoted section of the fanbase, with some even calling it the best game in the series. Double Agent can be faulted for a few things but not ambition as it chose to tell a drastically different kind of story. The game had a lot of potential which is set up right from the start, but ultimately, it failed to live up to its lofty expectations. The gameplay remains quite strong but in a puzzling move, Ubisoft decided to take away major elements from the HUD, making for a needlessly cumbersome experience. However, in context to the rest of the series, Double Agent does come off lacking in terms of memorable levels or moments.
